As Stage 2 of the CJLB progresses, amendments are being constructed. While most of these amendments have to do with existing sections of the CJLB, there are some ones that create entirely new offenses without the benefit of a lengthy consultation time. Is it right to create new laws at this stage in the legislative process? Is it right that our politicians are attempting to slide one in without us noticing? Ah, but that’s pork-barrel politics for you. There are two amendments that contradict CAAN’s statement: the amendments relating to prostitution and the amendments relating to lap dancing clubs.
